Biography

George Clooney was born on May 6, 1961 to Nina Bruce Warren and Nick Clooney, both of whom were working in TV. Though born in Lexington, Kentucky he was raised in Augusta, Kentucky. As an actor Clooney comes from a humble background. He dropped out of college early on to pursue his career in the arts and struggled, often riding to auditions in a bicycle. He had small roles in several TV shows, among them the Facts of Life and Roseanne. His first real break came with the Michael Criton drama ER where he played Dr. Doug Ross and from there his career took off.

From there opportunities in film came and Clooney starred in movies such as From Dusk Till Dawn (1996), One Fine Day (1996), Batman & Robin (1997), Out of Sight (1998), 3 Kings (1999), The Perfect Storm (2000), O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000), Ocean's Eleven (2001), Welcome to Collinwood (2002), Intolerable Cruelty (2003), and Ocean's Twelve (2004). A prolific artist George Clooney branch out into directing and made his directorial debut in the 2002 film Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.

2005 was a stellar year for George. He won both a Golden Globe Award and a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his work in Syrianna, where he plays a CIA agent embroiled in a tail of intrigue involving oil and war in the middle east. He was also nominated for best director for directing Good Night and Good Luck.
