Biography
Matthew Damon was born on October 8, 1970 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. His father Kent is an investment banker and mother Nancy an early-childhood education professor. He attend public school in his youth and eventually matriculated to Harvard. He dropped right before finishing his degree to become an actor.
Damon started out with various parts in small movies before landing his first break in Geronimo: An American Legend where he starred opposite Gene Hackman and Jason Patric. He followed up with strong performance in Courage Under Fire along side Denzel Washington, playing a heroine addicted soldier. Matt lost a lot of weight for that role and caught the eye of many critics for his dedication to portraying his characters well.
Matt Damon found super stardom with his work in Goodwill Hunting, which was a collaboration with his best friend Ben Affleck. He and Affleck both wrote the screen play for this movie and it earned them and Oscar for Best original screenplay. Damon was also nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of a math genius in this film. From there Damon enjoy success in popular movies such as, Saving Private Ryan, the Bourne Identity and the Bourne Supremacy.
Matt Damon has been linked romantically to actresses Claire Danes, Minnie Driver and Winona Ryder. He also met Luciana Bozan Barroso at a Miami Beach bar where she was working as a bartender whom he later married. The couple is expecting their first child in mid 2006.
