Biography

Orlando Bloom was born on January 13, 1977 in Canterbury, Kent, England. Bloom struggled in school early on due to dyslexia. This difficulty in school led him to find solice in acting and the arts. Orlando joined the National Youth Theatre in 1993 and eventually won a scholarship to train at the British American Drama Academy. He eventually found television work in and made his film debut in Wilde (1997). He eventually chose to enroll into the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and studied acting full time. He chose to stay in acting school until his graduation in 1999.

Bloom's career skyrocketed after his graduation where he landed the role of Legolas in The Lord of the Rings trilogy (2001–2003). As an actor he has enjoyed wild success in the movies he has made. Besides the Lord of the Rings Trilogy he also had roles in the Pirates of the Carribean franchise from Disney. Despite his success he has recently been criticized for not being able to deliver in films where he has the lead role. In the movies in which Orlando was lead character, the were flops at the box office. Kingdom of Heaven and Elizabethtown were both box office failures. Bloom has been voted Teens hottest actors under 25 and has been featured in Peoples top 100 sexiest celebs.
