Biography

Tobias Vincent Maguire was born on June 27, 1975, in Santa Monica, California and came from humble beginnings. His father was a chef and mother a secretary and they had Tobey when they were young, at the ages of 20 and 18. They would were married briefly later and then divorced. His youth was marked with a lot moving about. He spent time between his mother and fathers house and moved from place to place between California, Oregon and Washington.

Tobey gained critical acclaim early on with his work in Ang Lee's The Ice Storm. Though he gained critical acclaim for his other works in Pleasantville, The Cider House Rules and Wonder Boys those movies were not commerically successful. This acknowledgement did however lead his role as Peter Parker in Spiderman which became a billion dollar franchise and propelled him to super stardom overnight.
